Listed is the base hiring salary range offered for this position. Actual salaries may vary depending on factors, including but not limited to skills and experience. The salary range listed is just one component of the total rewards/compensation package offered to candidates.

Summary:
The Staff Chaplain assesses Spiritual Care and emotional needs of YRMC community which includes: patients, families, and staff. This individual develops a plan to address needs based on clinical assessment and provides spiritual and emotional care at time of crisis and/or death, as well as, completes all decedent care paperwork. The Chaplain provides crisis management for YRMC patients, families, and staff utilizing Critical Incident Stress Management model. The staff Chaplain provides for YRMC community patients, families, and staff rituals needs which includes but is not limited to: weddings, funerals, baptisms, blessing, prayer and if incumbent cannot provide for needs themselves, it is their responsibility to resource to local faith group leader.
Responsibilities:
Assesses patient, family and staff (as needed) spiritual and emotional needs during times of illness, trauma, stress and celebration; develops a plan of care based on spiritual assessment utilizing individual's resources to cope with current situation; provides spiritual accompaniment and guidance to patients, family, and staff for both personal and professional spiritual/emotional needs; follows up with individuals, as appropriate.
Responds to spiritual care, palliative care, length of stay, and other emergent consults; assesses patient, family, or other representative's spiritual and emotional needs; develops plan of care to respond to needs; follows up, as appropriate; maintains collaborative communication with interdisciplinary care team.
Educates interested groups on spiritual care techniques which includes but is not limited to: stress management, relaxation breathing, guided imagery, end-of-life care planning, organ and tissue donation; maintains positive, supportive relationship between local faith groups/clergy and Spiritual Care Department; represents YRMC in positive and professional manner at community and professional meetings.
Documents in Electronic Medical Record (YRMCCare) according to policy and professional standards.
Completes decedent care protocol; accompanies LIP (licensed individual practitioner) with death notification; assists family/representative in using positive coping mechanisms to begin grieving process; provides support and presence to family/representative as they view the body, interfaces with Donor Network of Arizona and the Yuma County Medical Examiner Investigator, responds, as appropriate; assists family/representative with completion of all necessary hospital paperwork (e.g., Release of Human Remains, Documentation of Referral to Donor Network of Arizona, required hospital documentation, YRMC Death Log, CMS restraint reporting etc…); supports staff in dealing with the death of their patient.
Maintains collaborative, collegial relationship between Department of Spiritual Care and all members of YRMC community.
Educates patients, families, and staff on end-of-life care planning: including Advanced Directives, Living Will, Power of Attorney, organ and tissue donation, whole body donation, end-of-life spiritual/emotional issues; completes necessary documents, when appropriate.
Maintains compliance with all policies of Yuma Regional Medical Center, the Association of Clinical Pastoral Education and any professional organization the incumbent holds membership there within; performs other duties, as assigned.
